The Seed Blog: What A Difference A Day Makes

Last week we covered incredibly, objectively, and conclusively proof that there must be a God. On this Easter Morning, we will look at evidence as to why this God must be Jesus.

It is Easter Morning, and this is why we’ve chosen this day to cover the evidence. Because on this day, ALL OF THE BIBLE hinges, everything we could believe in Jesus will stand or fall according to this day in history; because on this day everything about your entire life and future will be forever affected by what you do with this day in history.
With such an event as important as it is to God and mankind, would God let it come to pass without telling us something about it beforehand? Without letting us know about it with incredible urgency and decisiveness? NOT A CHANCE!
We just happen to be the only religion in the world that is not only based on a real historical figure, but a historical figure that every major detail of birth, life and death was told in detail hundreds and even thousands of years before He walked into history. Using not just one person of one time but many different people (over 40) spanning a timeframe over 1500 years, from different cultures, continents(Africa, Asia and Europe), different languages (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek), different walks of life (from doctor to king to fisherman to slave), TO SPEAK WITH 100% PERFECT ACCURACY AND HARMONY! ABOUT ONE PLACE, ONE TIME, ONE EVENT, ONE MAN!! WITH HISTORY FLAWLESSLY BACKING THAT EVIDENCE!!
SOUNDS IMPOSSIBLE? SOUND SUPERNATURAL? IT IS!!!
If it could be proven to you would you accept it? Choose not to believe anyway?
The job is not to convince you, or talk you into anything my job is to give you the evidence and then it is up to your heart to believe or reject. The mind will find reason to believe what the heart desires even regardless of what the evidence presents. Never did God expect you to accept His Son on blind faith, God has left unmistakable evidence for all to see and hear. Matthew 11:15
On the very first Easter, Resurrection Day, when Jesus joined with two of His disciples on the road to Emmaus, He showed them proof in the scriptures that everything had been foretold, by quoting nothing but The Law and The Prophets of The Old Testament.
Luke 24:13-16,27
So today some 2000 years later let’s follow the wisdom of Christ and expound on the Scriptures of Moses and the Prophets to show how even more so today to give unmistakable evidence that Jesus Christ as the Son of God came to take away the sins of the world.
EVERY SCRIPTURE WE ARE ABOUT TO COVER WAS WRITTEN BETWEEN 1400BC AND 500BC.
Some scripture may be so exact that you may even question them! Understand this proof positive the entire Old Testament was translated from Hebrew into Greek from Ptolemy II, the son of a general under Alexander The Great, This translation is called The Septuagint, Ptolemy II ruled from 285BC to 246BC, nearly 300 years before Jesus Christ was born (a fact well documented in secular history).
Let’s take a look at some of the scriptures Jesus must have used on the Road To Emmaus:
Proverbs 30:4   Isaiah 9:6-7   Genesis 21:12 and 22:18    Numbers 24:17    Micah 5:2    Isaiah 7:14             2 Samuel 7:12-13
All these scriptures saying God would step into the world as a new born baby growing into a man and His lineage would be unmistakably clear, spelled out in scripture.
Two early Christian writers, Tertullian a Roman lawyer who had converted to Christianity and a Christian Apologist Justin Martyr both told their readers to look in the archives of Augustus Caesar to find the proof of Joseph and Mary’s lineage.
Not only do we have scriptures God would be born as a child with a specific lineage but also scripture telling us exactly where…..
Micah 5:2     Isaiah 9:1-2
These verses tell us he would be born in Bethlehem (population under 1000) and tell us He would shine in Galilee.
Scripture even narrows it down to the day he would come…..
Daniel 9:24-26
Now understand this, Daniel literally says there would be 69 groups of 7 tears or exactly 173,880 days (Jewish Calendar is 360 days) from a future time when a unnamed ruler will give orders to rebuild Jerusalem until the Messiah comes. On Nissan 1 444 BC that command was given by Artaxerxes I of Persia the clock started ticking, (NEHEMIAH 2:1-8) the clock ended on the day Jesus rode into Jerusalem a week before his crucifixion (Palm Sunday). For the record history shows that after Jesus’ death the city and temple were destroyed, as prophesied.
Daniel made the prediction of an exact time, starting the clock at an unknown time, by an unknown person, outside of Daniel’s control and it happened as predicted, the actual events of the day was prophesied 900 years before it happened….ZECHARIAH 9:9
This is what happened on Palm Sunday the crowds worshipped Him, only to kill Him a week later. Scriptures also predicted that rulers of the day would reject Him (PSALM 118:22-23).
Even more scripture telling He would be (1)betrayed by a friend PSALM 41:9 (2)the betrayer would receive 30 pieces of silver ZECHARIAH 11:12-13.
Then the amazing part every detail of the crucifixion spelled out, 800 years before crucifixion was introduced, by an entirely different culture. (The Romans)
ISAIAH 53:2-12
He was crucified IN THE NAME OF GOD, He was beaten and scourged, died with criminals, and taken and buried by a rich believer.
Now read this written 1000 years before the cross….
PSALM 22:1-31
The exact scene of hatred, scoffing saying let God save Him, description of crucifixion dehydration from blood loss, bones out of joint, how the crowd look at the crucified body, down to the soldiers gambling for His garments at the foot of the cross.
Let’s piece it all together, scriptures written 500 to 1400 years before Christ said God would have a Son, a human child, He would be a descendant of David from Jesse from the Tribe of Judah, from Isaac, from Abraham. He would be born in Bethlehem, He would come from Galilee, He would arrive on an exact day in history in Jerusalem, riding into Jerusalem on a donkey while being praised and worshipped only to be rejected and hated a week later, he would be beaten, hands and feet pierced, dehydrated, bones out of joint, ridiculed, die with criminals, buried with the rich, that Jerusalem and the temple would be destroyed after His death.
Now can you truly believe that all of these specific, highly unusual prophecies about one person could come true? And these are just a mere handful of scriptures, there are over 70 major prophecies, 260 detailed prophecies, for over 300 specific facts about one man, one place, one given time, dying in one specific way.
The alternative belief would be that a fanatic tried to orchestrate events to make it look like God but the simple problem with that is he would have no control over the mode of execution, people’s reactions, the government killing him, or criminals he was executed with, all those uncontrollable.
In case you thought these events were written out by zealots secular historians from Rome recorded these events Cornelius Tactitus a Roman Senator and Historian (56-120 AD) wrote (Hence to suppress the rumor, he falsely charged with guilt, and punished with the most exquisite tortures, the persons commonly called Christians, who were hated for their enormities, Christus the founder of the name, was put to death by Pontius Pilate, procurator of Judea in the reign of Tiberius)
Jewish leaders who hated Him (The Sanhedrin) wrote in their most sacred writings The Babylonian Talmud (On the eve of Passover they hanged Yeshu (of Nazareth) But they found Him naught in His defense and hanged Him on the eve of Passover) Babylonian Sanhedrin 43a
Others who believed in Christ because of the events they saw wrote as well, the words of Justin Martyr (But the words, ‘they pierced My hands and My feet, are a description of the nails that were fixed in His hands and His feet on the cross; and after He was crucified; those who crucified Him casts lots of His garments, and divide them among themselves; that these things were so,you may learn from the ‘Acts’ which were recorded under Pontius Pilate. That He performed these miracles that you may be easily satisfied from the ‘Acts’ of Pontius Pilate.” Apology 1.48
These are only a few there are more who proved what they saw by their actions and sacrifice;  all of the disciples except for John, who had been boiled and oil but didn’t die and was exiled on the Isle of Patmos, died horrible deaths, thousands who saw the events unfold and knew the truth of those events were beaten, tortured, homes taken and killed with family members for their beliefs. Supporting the events occurred.
Pliny The Younger (61-113 AD) Governor in Asia Minor, wrote to Emperor Trajan…..
“Stating that he was having to kill so many Christians of every age and gender that he wanted counsel on whether he should continue killing anyone found to be Christian, or should he just kill certain ones.” Epistles X. 96
Secular history, Jewish history, and the blood of thousands concretely prove these events in history, not to mention the hundreds of detailed prophecies years before were completely accurate.
Only God could orchestrate that accuracy through many people, times, places, and backgrounds to describe one man and one event in all history. He did all of this not to just win a few converts He did it because we were priceless to Him and He adores us. He paid such a horrible price because we were guilty in our sins before Him and that had to be punished.
Before she was saved my mother would say “Well I think I’m a pretty good person…And I believe God is real…So I think He’ll let me in don’t you?) That is not only a complete lie from Hell but it takes away everything God had to do to win us back. Satan believes, the demons believe, many believe and yet they live for themselves. At our best we are fallen selfish people in need of Christ. Just to believe He exists is not enough we need to believe in His Heart, Love, and Sacrifice. We need to admit we have lived for ourselves and need forgiveness, commit our lives to him, with the same passion He has for us. He wants all or nothing, because He loves us so much, and He deserves no less!!
