First of all, let's introduce what we know about one of the least studied, most overlooked people in Scriptures. He is depicted in more artwork, mantel pieces, and outdoor decorations than just about any other male in Scriptures besides Christ Himself. And yet, less is known about him than just about any other prominently mentioned male of Scriptures. This man has such a story to tell and such a lesson to teach us about how to draw near to Christ, and be used mightily. He truly is a perfect definition of the, "Unsung Hero" of Scriptures. A quick introduction of what we know about Joseph up to the opening of our story…
Each week of Advent we are lighting a different candle, and discussing one unique aspect of the Christmas Story...But as we do so, we are also more importantly, comparing the details of these Nativity Events of Old...To our own lives, in our journey to draw nearer to Our Savior...Or maybe, to even see Him for the FIRST TIME, as they did on that awesome Night! Listen each week, as we see key details and events, which prove that these people... Who were used by God to literally change the entire world...Are not so different from you or I... Or at least, not so different than we COULD BE... If we so CHOSE, in our love for the Coming Messiah as well!
Meaning, if they could be used that powerfully... If they could draw that close to Jesus... Then, you and I can as well...It is possible! Isaiah 9:6-7: Can you see the insanity of these words? How could an Everlasting, Almighty God, be described as a Child that would be born? In a specific place, at a specific point of time, as a Man? And why on earth would He do such a thing? Today and for the next three weeks to follow, we are going to explore the answers to these questions. And in the process, learn so much about the heart of our God—what He asks of us as His people and how to be closer to Him than you ever in life.
We are into week 5 of our walk-through of the Book of 1 Peter...Written to Jewish and Gentile Christians living in 5 Provinces of Rome located in Asia Minor (Turkey today)...Many of which had fled there to escape persecution in Jerusalem and surrounding areas...The Letter was written during the reign of one of the most cruel Caesars to ever rule Ancient Rome... Emperor Nero!
We are in week four of a walk-through of 1 Peter. We chose this Book for study because it is a Letter from Peter to 1st Century Christians who had fled to five Roman Provinces in Asia Minor (Turkey). After fleeing persecution found themselves in a society which strongly rejected their faith and lifestyles in Christ, with social and cultural persecution quickly apparent there as well and growing rapidly around them. This Letter was written to encourage the Christians living there as misfits and rejects in society and to teach them who they truly are in Christ; What their real mission is in their times of trouble, and to keep their eyes on the big picture—the soon coming Messiah.
