It is a hot topic in today's society - homosexuality. Does God hate homosexuals? Or does God love everyone and therefore homosexuality should be accepted and embraced? Or is the answer somewhere in the middle? How should followers of Christ respond to the homosexual movement? In today's sermon, Pastor Doss attempts to answer many of the questions you may have, drawing from Biblical and secular sources, in the hopes of bringing you a clearer picture of where the Bible says God stands on the issue, and how we should respond as a result. How many have read the Book of Esther? It is one of only two Books with a woman's name (the other is Ruth). It is the only Book that does not directly mention God's Name even one time. But prayer, fasting, and faith in God are shown throughout, and His Sovereign Works are seen beautifully. This is an incredible, historical event, which has a powerful message for us today; one this generation in particular, truly needs to contemplate.
It's one of two books in the Bible named after women. And the only that never mentions God. What can we possibly learn from the 10 chapter story of an orphan girl chosen to be queen? Listen to today's sermon to find out.
How many of you have heard the comment, "Whatever religion works for you, as long as you believe with all your heart, is Ok, because, there are many ways to God, and every religion will lead you to Him."? Or been asked the question, "I'm Ok with there being a God, but why do you have to be so adamant about that God being Jesus?" Almost everyone has probably heard these statements, and honestly, one part of this thought process is valid and reasonable. You need to know why you believe what you believe—and if Jesus is who He says He is, we should not fear, because a True God should leave a pretty convincing mark on His creation. But, I believe there are many who do not want to seriously look at the possibility of there being only One, True Way—thus the "many ways to God" mentality. Some would rather believe that any path you choose is just fine, because they are not in any way looking for real Truth. They are simply looking for a pacifier in life, because with Truth, comes Relevance to life. If I learn there is One, Knowable Creator, the relevance that has in my life becomes overwhelming and inescapable. I can no longer make my own way, choose my own direction, and simply adopt a comfortable religious view to support my wants. Suddenly I am accountable—I am no longer master of my own world. [Peter and John before same crowd that killed Jesus: Acts 4:10-12; John 14:6.]
With an estimated 4,200 different religions in the world, how can Christians claim that Jesus is the only way? What sets Him, and in effect Christianity, apart from all the others? Listen to today's sermon to find out!
Let's go back to the time before even mankind was created, to the original sin of all God's creatures. Isaiah gives us a glimpse into the heart of the culprit: Isaiah 14:12-15. The contagious infection was easily spread to God's crowning creation. The core of the problem in the Garden of Eden was not about eating fruit. It was about thinking they deserved more. It was the sin of pride. Since that first sin in the Garden, every sin ever committed, has had the same core: a lack of humility= pride. The problem is, that most people in this room truly feel you don't have a major problem with pride, and that's a pretty arrogant thought: Luke 18:9-14.
If there were one thing that was keeping you from a deep, meaningful relationship with God, wouldn't you want to know? What if we told you that one thing is probably the root cause of every sin in your life. Want to know what it is now?
In today's sermon, Pastor Doss reveals this one thing and walks us through some areas of our life where it is most likely to reveal itself. Listen to discover what "it" is. |
