In this Mother's Day message Pastor Doug conveys God's view of men's roles in society and the family and just how far removed that view is from what society tells us.
Every year on our Picnic Anniversary we try to look at where we are as a Family of God, and truly see where we are in God's eyes. What our greatest needs and struggles may be. We try to have a true moment of self-reflection, as compared to the Only Standard that counts. And there is one major problem which I feel we all struggle with to some extent or another—and that is feeling acceptance and closeness to God.
What is a man? Is it the John Wayne stereotype? Rambo? John Wick? Even Chuck Norris? Is it being your own boss, being waited on and catered to by everyone? How many women he has? Clearly the world and God’s view do not come close to matching, so on this Mother’s Day let us learn how God views and intends for a man to be A MAN.
Today we are going to talk on one of the most controversial, divisive, and horrific practices of this nation's history in the eyes of our God: the act of abortion. Not with an anger or a judgment against those who have chosen to have one, or against those who have chosen to perform one—because in many circumstances, both have become traumatized and broken victims themselves—but with the loving, yet unapologetic decision to reveal the unparalleled evil this practice is truly seen as, in the eyes of God, and why it is wrong in every way in which it may be approached, or endeavored to be justified.
We talked last week about many of the prophecies concerning Jesus' First Appearance on earth, and as numerous and awesome as they were shown to be, and as perfectly as they were fulfilled—do you realize there are many more prophecies concerning His Second Coming than the First? Today we are not going into these prophecies, but are instead, looking at something much more pressing for you and I, because we need to be less worried about how close we are to the End Days, and much more focused on how living in these Last Days has affected us as Christians.
In this week's message Pastor Doug outlines the importance keeping God's word in our individual lives; standing up to the deceptions and sins of a fallen world. All of us must find it in ourselves to be the line that is drawn.
