Recap: Jesus Christ, the only One worthy, had opened all seven of the Seals on The Heavenly Scroll. This Scroll is the Scroll of God's Wrath, which is about to be released on the earth. These Seals brought the Antichrist, war, famine, disease, earthquakes, darkness, and heavenly signs of judgment. When the Seventh and final Seal was broken, there was silence in Heaven for half an hour.
We are past the half way point, and things are looking bad for those "left behind". Today Pastor Doss examines more of the events revealed to Paul and compares them to possible modern day causes. This is the first generation that has ever been able to achieve some of the remarkable things that were foretold.
As we discussed last week, the First Four Seals... each of which, unleash a symbolic Rider on a Horse... Are the, "Four Riders of the Apocalypse" that we hear so much about! The four scenes represented by these horsemen, seem to be connected in one major event... beginning with that appearance of the antichrist and his false peace. Let's see how the rest of the Riders fit together!
We continue our series on the Great Trubulation, looking at the events from the perspective of those who are "left behind" after the rapture. Pastor Doss draws from the book of Revelation and walks us through the first four seals that are broken in heaven.
We will begin at the start of the Tribulation again, but this time we will follow the events as one with the terrible fate of remaining on earth after the Rapture has taken place. There are several possible sequences and scenarios, as we step into prophecies concerning these last days. Many facts and events are spelled out concretely; some are not to be fully understood until they are fulfilled. We will walk through the chronological sequence of the Book of Revelation, and fit the many Old and New Testament details of each event into place as we go…
Before we stepped away for Christmas, Pastor Doss began this series by walking us through the Tribulation from the perspective of those who accepted the gift of salvation. Today we continue the series by stepping back to the beginning and re-examining the time from the perspective of those who were not called away, those who will be left behind.
It’s a New Year, and all about fresh starts. That brings us new accounting records, new insurance deductible totals, new calendars, new year resolutions. How many of you have made New Year's Resolutions in the past? How many of you have broken them? Multiple polls from sources such as Statistic Brain Research Institute, Forbes, & US News & World Report (to name a few) claim the number of people that keep resolutions, ranges from a high of 20% to a very commonly quoted low of only 8%. Why do we break these resolutions? One of the articles read, gives a very thoughtful explanation as to why: “Make resolutions you've thought through and are willing to dedicate your time and energy to... If you're not 100 percent committed to your goal, the odds of staying motivated are not in your favor." We break them because it is not what they truly wanted from the bottom of their heart in the first place. We break them because our hearts just aren't in it; because it really isn't important enough to give whatever it takes to make it happen.
It is that time of year when many of us are making New Year's resolutions with hopes of improving our (fill in the blank). Unfortunately, most of us (92%!!!) will abandon those resolutions at some point. Why? Our hearts just aren't totally committed to whatever it was we resolved to do.
Today Pastor Doss asks us to examine ourselves to see what else we might not be fully committed to, specifically our decision to follow Jesus. Unlike New Year's resolutions, our commitment to this aspect of our life has a greater impact than any other. Discover the privileges that come with complete surrender and learn how you may not be as committed as you think you are in today's sermon. |
