Much is made of the mircale of Jesus walking upon the water. And it was awesome and showed the power of faith but it happened once. Jesus spend the rest of his life walking the dirt to get to people who needed him. Shouldn't we be doing the same?
On Mother's Day we talked about the role of men in society. How that role is hated, misunderstood and ridiculed in society today. And how we as men have abandoned that role in many ways, causing great harm to our families and society as a whole. And today, as a gift to fathers on Father's Day, we are going to be looking at the other side of the relationship which God has created: God's role for women, as told by the very One who designed and manufactured them.
We’ve all heard or even said “I am so thankful God saved me from my sins.” But what we are really saying is “I am so thankful that I am forgiven and saved from Hell.” Because many of us don’t ever realize nor contemplate what it means to be forgiven and saved from our sins. The actual real effects of sin would be on us right now if we would not have been saved through His Word, Spirit, and Blood, nor what sin truly represents to God and how it affects Him.
We’ve had much teaching on persecution and how it is quickly worsening, how discerning the clear urgency of the times is paramount. That makes today's message absolutely necessary for Christians, or we will become completely useless like salt that has lost its saltiness.
We are living in a time where lifestyles (homosexuality/alcoholism) are blamed on our genetics. Bad habits and actions are blamed on society and upbringing. Doubts, fears and depressions are blamed on incidents and traumas in life. Bad attitudes are blamed on treatment from the mean people around us. And poor moral choices are blamed on everything from, “it’s just natural”, to cultural trends, to financial necessity. All show complete focus and concern on self.
